Sean Douglass is an arts journalist, teacher, playwright, and podcaster. Many of his past articles have appeared in the former NYC media company The Clyde Fitch Report, where he was Managing Editor, and he also created and hosted the CFR's monthly podcast The Scene for several years. The Scene featured interviews with numerous figures from film, TV, Broadway, and regional theater and was named a New and Notable podcast by Apple in 2016. Outside the CFR his articles or brief commentary have appeared in The New York Times, Broadway World, Rantt Media, and Cennarium Backstage, been syndicated at various outlets in the U.S. and internationally, and been shared widely by major theaters, arts organizations, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Currently he has branched off into video game journalism, contributing regularly to TheGamer.

He is based in the Midwest and during the 2010’s was active in the Chicago theater community. He has previously worked with Chicago Dramatists, Northlight Theatre, and Something Marvelous as a dramaturg and script reader, and over the years has contributed to the development and workshops of dozens of new plays. He also formerly ran a theater streaming platform called Stagecloud. His own plays have been produced or developed at The Chicago Fringe Festival, Luminous Theatre of Milwaukee, Something Marvelous, Stagecloud, and Chicago Dramatists.

Since 2020, he has been offering a popular lineup of podcasting, journalism, media, and escape room-based classes on Outschool, which have been enjoyed by over 7000 students in over 30 countries.
